About Ken Gwira
Ken Gwira is a poet and artist.
In May 1981, I drew an artwork on paper and made it into a wooden sculpture. In my mind it was a woman. An abstract image of a woman’s head. I took the wooden piece to an art gallery down the street from where I lived and showed it to the owner. She handled it for a few moments and said: “It looks like a key”.
It struck me that there was something I didn’t see in the design: that is, the importance or key of the creation.
I have set out to tell the world, that women are important and hope to change our perspective.
He is married with three children and several grand-children.
